The week had passed by so fast. As Harlem drove home, she thought about everything she’d gotten a chance to learn in her first week. It was so much that nursing school didn’t really teach. True, nursing school did teach you the fundamentals of the profession and how to critically think a situation out. However, it didn’t prepare you for some of the off the wall things patients would say and school really couldn’t cover everything you needed to know in a specialized field like labor and delivery. Harlem had definitely gotten some on the job training. On her way home, she’d decided that she would stop at Fuel City and get some tacos. She loved those things and had been craving them all day. When she pulled into the parking lot, it looked like she was at a club. Cars were everywhere. She had a hard time finding some place to park, but finally caught someone coming out, and parked near a S550 Benz.

Harlem walked up to the window and placed her order. As she waited for her name to be called, she used her phone to check her Facebook and Instagram pages. Just as she was about to check-in at Fuel City, she got a text message from Kendra.

KEN: Just checking in to see how everything is going. Heard you had a dinner date in the week…let me find out.

Just as she was about to reply, a man’s name was called for him to pick up his order. As the man walked past Harlem, he accidently bumped her. He turned back around. “My bad, baby girl, I didn’t mean to…” and then it was as if something registered with him.

“Harlem?” he said smiling. Harlem took a good look at the guy, but couldn’t recall who the cutie was.

“Yes.”

The guy left for a second to get his order since the clerk was calling his name for a second time. He was back in her face. “You really don’t remember me? That truly hurts my feelings, especially after I saved you the expense of a cab ride.”

“A cab ride? What are you talking ab-”, then it registered to Harlem. “Chase?”

He gave her a smile and then said, “All day long. How are you?”

“I’m good, just getting off work. I’ve been craving Fuel City all day, so I decided to stop through. What are you doing in town?”

“I had some business that I needed to take care of. I told you I come out this way from time to time. This must be fate, huh?”

Harlem simply smiled at him. “Chase you’re crazy. How long are you here for?” she asked, attempting to change the subject.

“As long as I need to be,” was his response.

Finally, Harlem’s name was called and she walked up to the window to get her tacos. Chase waited on her and then followed her out of the store. Harlem noticed that Chase was walking in the same direction she was. They walked in awkward silence. Once Harlem reached her car, she noticed that Chase was still behind her.
